Takeaways:
- Never go to 0: Don't let a day go to zero (like 0 pages read, 0 minutes working out, 0 pages written)
- 2 minutes limit: if takes less than 2 do it now, if it takes more than 2 don't spend more than 2 minutes on it (therefore doing that much now)
- Capture everything (maybe screenshot) then just browse that crap
- Do different things, and do things differently (try new)
- Phone face down when talking to people
- Before checking anything (notification, email, etc), take 2 deep breaths
- Before consuming anything, drink one cup of water first
- Ask "and then what at least 3 times": example: skip gym today? what about the next day? what about my routine? what about my goal? what's going to happen to me if i don't?
- "What if?" instead of "Why me?"
- Count to 10, when you get upset, annoyed, or angry
- "What would the future I want to become choose?": Every time I make a decision or choice?
- Energy check: Is this going to give me more energy or reduce my energy? I'd rather do 3 things well than 10 things badly
- Ask curious questions: in every conversation ask one question you're genuinely curious about, not small talk questions
- Give one real compliment every day.
- Say their name at least once every conversation or day
- Check your assumptions: ask what the other person is thinking or feeling instead of assuming
- Build trust with small actions and gestures
- Open a bucket for every goal (like an account)
- Make a checklist for anything you do more than once
- Build systems instead of setting goals (systems don't need motivation)
- Ship small things: don't be perfect, just ship something
- One thing at a time (no multi-tasking)
- What else does this apply to?: when you learn something, tie it. when you consume something, make something from it
- input-output balance: for every x time spent consuming something, spend y time creating/doing something with it
- Consciously breath at least 3 times a day: inhale 4, hold 7, exhale 8. When you wake up, when your energy is low in the afternoon, at night before bed. Also when you're anxious about something.
- Take micro-breaks: 2 minute breaks (walk, stretch, look outside, talk) between big tasks.
- Negative loop breaker: name 5 things i can see, move to 3 different places, do 1 focused activity for 3 minutes.
- Analog hour: no devices activity hour like: reading, writing in a physical notebook, walking without earbuds
- Sit with boredom: When you get bored, spend 2 minutes in that state before you remove it
- Daily affirmations: good things that you believe about yourself, you can do, and want to do.
